Sheila was previously a Science Teacher, but was drawn to study and practice Complementary Therapies after a treatment she received completely changed her life! She graduated in Therapeutic Massage (Fountain House Clinic, Somerset) in 1985 and in Craniosacral Therapy (Karuna Institute, Devon) in 1986 and has worked at this clinic ever since that time. As a teacher for the National Childbirth Trust for 19 years, Sheila has developed a strong interest in child and family health and is experienced in the treatment of babies and children, and the support of new families.

Whilst maintaining a busy practice, Sheila has taken various roles in the development of professional standards for the UK in both Massage and Craniosacral Therapy and is currently Chair of the Association of Physical and Natural Therapists.

Sheila is the principal of the Maitri Foundation, which was established in Stroud in 1991. It offers a professional Therapeutic Massage Training and Advanced Massage Seminars. Sheila also teaches Craniosacral Therapy in the UK, USA, New Zealand and Australia.
