Sound, Singing and Movement Therapy
Victoria Allington
Victoria is a graduate from the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST), with a practitioner level diploma in Holistic Voice Therapy. Prior to this, Victoria attained a BA (Hons) in Acting from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), and upon graduation began her career with professional singing and acting, focusing on physical theatre and movement. Drawn more to the healing and expressive elements of the arts, Victoria went on to pursue a diploma in Voice Therapy, to deepen her knowledge in how the human voice, along with breath-work, visualisation and movement, can heal the mind and body.
The Sound Therapy Victoria offers provides a natural approach to healing, with the aim of providing the client with the tools and facilitation to flourish into their full strength, in mind and body. A client may come to Sound Therapy for a variety of reasons- to explore an issue they need to gain clarity on, process or release; to gain confidence in finding their true voice and movement; to release some physical tension through deep relaxation or they may also come to Sound Therapy to find a 'wholing' of the mind and body together, helping the two aspects communicate more effectively and find synchronicity and balance.
A session would normally be 45-60mins, and may also include a passive treatment in the form of a Vocal Sound Bath. This involves the client lying fully clothed on a massage table, and receiving a form of sound meditation whereby the practitioner uses soothing, sustained tones to relax and calm the nervous system, slow down brainwave frequencies and lower blood pressure and heart rate. In this state, the immune system is strengthened and the body is able to use it's natural self-healing capabilities. This method can also be used to further explore and reflect upon an issue the client is in session for. A client may request sound-bath sessions only, or wish to have a combination.
Appointments: Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
Fee: £40 per session.
